No. 18 Broncos Take Down No.17 UC Davis In Final Game of Regular Season

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The No. 18 Broncos traveled to No. 17 UC Davis for their final game of the regular season. The Broncos were able to shut out the Aggies in the final quarter to win the game 11-10. The Broncos finished the regular season 16-11.

From an earned ejection, Elle Surber converted the man-up opportunity to give the Broncos the lead. Laura Burtness made the game 2-0 Broncos but the Aggies hit their stride and went on a three-goal run to take the lead. Surber tied the game three all but the Aggies ended the first quarter with the 4-3 advantage.

The Aggies added one more goal to their lead before Elizabeth Anderson brought the Broncos back within one, 4-5. Kaitlin Murphy put in two-goals back to back to take the lead, 6-5. Claire Eadington found the back of the net, but the Aggies pulled ahead and held onto a 8-7 lead going into half.

The Aggies started off the third quarter with two goals, leaving the Broncos trailing by three, 10-7. With goals by Murphy and Peters, the Broncos ended the third quarter down by one, 10-9.

June Afshar shut out the Aggies in the fourth quarter. With two more goals by Peters and Murphy, the Broncos left the pool with the 11-10 win over the Aggies.

The Broncos will now gear up for the Golden Coast Conference Championships, which will be hosted by Loyola Marymount University at the Burns Recreation and Aquatics Center.
