Women's Water Polo Captain Kaitlin Murphy Named Third-Team All-American

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Bronco senior caption Kaitlin Murphy, who led the team in earned ejections and was second in goals, has been named Third Team All-American by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches. 

Murphy is just the fifth Bronco in women's water polo program history to be named All-American.Julia Peters was named Honorable Mention All-American after her freshman season in 2013. Former All-Americans include Kimberly Yost in 2001, Lindsey Bacolini in 2006 and Amy Lamb in 2009.

"Kaitlin Murphy had an outstanding year leading our squad in earned ejections and was second on the team in goals scored," said Bronco head coach Keith Wilbur. "More importantly she was instrumental in the success of our team throughout the year, including three historical wins for our program.  It is great to see both our team and Kaitlin get recognition with this All-American selection."

Murphy lead the Broncos squad with 51 earned ejections, was second with 50 goals and finished ninth overall in the Golden Coast Conference with 44 steals. In addition, Murphy was named to First-Team GCC All-Conference and GCC Player of the Week for her efforts in the 2014 season.
