No. 20 Women's Water Polo Hosts Harvard on March 22

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After more than a week since playing their last game, the No. 20 women's water polo team will take to the water at home on March 22 at 1 pm against Harvard.  This will be the final non-conference match-up of the season for the Broncos. The team is 12-8 overall after falling in their last two games earlier this month.

Last season, the Broncos took their first ever travel trip to the East Coast for the Harvard Invitational. The team saw great success, going 3-1 only falling to then No. 7 Princeton. 

In the final game of the Invitational, the Crimson and the Broncos matched up, resulting in a 9-7 win for Santa Clara. It was the underclassman who carried the Broncos in that game, with Elizabeth Anderson, Erin Sheridan and Elle Surber each scoring two goals.

The Crimson are on an eight day travel trip to California, playing eight games with the match-up against the Broncos being the final game of the trip. The Crimson are currently 14-7 and 5-1 in the CWPA Conference. 

Leading the offense for the Crimson are juniors Charlotte Hendrix and Yoshi Andersen and sophomore Melissa Balding. Hendrix leads the squad with 41 goals, 28 assists and 16 steals, Andersen follows closely behind with 40 goals, 25 assists and 22 steals and Balding has recorded 38 goals, 12 assists and 8 steals.

After a tough too losses earlier this month, the Broncos took last week off to reboot and are looking to pick up this win before heading into tough conference play that will start on March 28.

Leading the pack for the Broncos is redshirt-junior Julia Peters who has recorded 39 goals and 24 steals. Junior goalie Sydni Estrella has anchored the defense for the Broncos all season long, starting all 20 games recording 162 blocks, 15 steals and seven assists.
