Late Push Lifts Women’s Water Polo to a 6-4 Victory over Cal State East Bay

SANTA CLARA, Calif.Annie Eldredge must enjoy playing against Cal State East Bay.

Eldredge matched her career high with three goals, including the game-winner, to lead Santa Clara women's water polo to a 6-4 victory over the Pioneers Saturday morning in the first of four games at Sullivan Aquatic Center.

The sophomore, who has six of her 10 career goals against Cal State East Bay, snapped a 3-all tie on a goal with less than four minutes left in the third quarter and then extended the lead to 5-3 with 53 seconds gone in the fourth.

Eldredge, who also drew a pair of exclusions, made it a three-goal advantage with 2:25 left in the game and Auriel Bill of Cal State East Bay (1-2) closed out the scoring with 25 seconds remaining.

Hannah Buck scored twice and Mara Dominguez added a goal for the Broncos (2-1) who will play Sonoma State at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Fresno Pacific faces Sonoma State at 11 a.m. and Cal State East Bay at 3 p.m.

Leilani Vazquez had a goal and an assist for the Pioneers.

Eldredge had three of her six goals last season during a 14-10 victory at Cal State East Bay (Feb. 6).

Sullivan Aquatic Center, as well as its ticket office, is open one hour prior to the start of the game. Only cash is accepted at Sullivan Aquatic Center. 

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to the start. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive.
