Women’s Water Polo Drops a Pair at Cal Saturday

BERKELEY, Calif. - Santa Clara women's water polo lost to two of the top four ranked teams in the nation Saturday at the Cal Speedo Cup II, a mix of college and exhibition contests.

The Broncos (3-8) were upended by top-ranked Stanford, 19-1, in the opening game at Cal's Legends Aquatic Center. Keri Clifford had the lone Santa Clara goal.

Playing in the final game of the day, the Broncos fell to No. 4 Cal, 14-4, as 11 players scored for the Bears (10-1).

Annie Eldredge, Cathy Cantoni, Mara Dominguez and Susan Providenza tallied goals for the Broncos.

In between those two contests, the New York Athletic Club played exhibition games against Stanford and Cal.

After seven straight games away from home, the Broncos are back home Saturday to play Cal State Monterey Bay and UC Davis.
