Four Women’s Water Polo Players Earn All-Conference Honors

LOS ANGELES – Four Santa Clara women's water polo players earned spots on the 2017 All-Golden Coast Conference teams.

Sophomore Hannah Buck, the team's leading scorer, was voted to the second team, while senior Cathy Cantoni, Santa Clara's top assists and steals producer, earned honorable mention honors.

Maggie Oys and Lydia Dadd were selected to the GCC All-Freshman team.

Buck, who has started all 27 games this season, has 40 goals to go along with a team-best 62 kickouts drawn and 18 steals, tied for third among Broncos.

A two-year starter, Cantoni has posted 27 assists and 26 steals, as well as 26 goals (third on the team). She posted a season-high four goals against No. 13 UC Davis on Saturday and had at least one assist in 17 of 27 games this year.

Oys saw action in 24 games, all as a reserve. She drew 20 kickouts, which ranks second on the team, along with 10 goals and nine assists.

Dadd played in 10 games in net, all as a reserve, registering 25 blocks.

Santa Clara (8-19) is playing host to the seven-team GCC Championship, which kicks off Friday. The fifth-seeded Broncos face No. 4 seed Azusa Pacific at 1:30 p.m. in Sullivan Aquatic Center.
