Nine Women’s Water Polo Players Honored for Academic Achievement

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Santa Clara women's water polo had nine players earn spots on the 2017 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-Academic Team.

Divided into three teams based on cumulative grade-point average, athletes received Outstanding (4.00-3.71), Superior (3.70-3.41) or Excellent (3.40-3.20) distinction.

Kathryn Burke and Keri Clifford were on the outstanding list; Blair Akerland, Emma Allegrucci, Lydia Dadd and Maggie Oys were in the superior category; Cathy Cantoni, Maddie Macdonald and Francesca Puccinelli earned excellent status.

Clifford appeared on the outstanding list for the third-straight season while the team was one of 44 recognized nationally for maintaining a cumulative 3.0 or higher GPA (3.15).

A total of 536 athletes were recognized (140 Outstanding, 210 Superior, 186 Excellent)

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete's head coach must be a member of the ACWPC.
