"Going into this weekend, we want to build off our defensive effort last week," said head coach Keith Wilbur. " We also want to add to our offensive game. There are certain situations where we create good opportunities but we need to do a better job finishing. In other situations, we need to create more, and that is effort, execution, and having multiple ways to attack."

The Broncos defeated Cal St. East Bay, 7-6, and Sonoma State, 6-3, on Sunday and lost to Long Beach, 9-2, and UC Irvine, 16-3, on Saturday at the Triton Invitational.

"The focus was on getting better every game," said Wilbur. "They had a good positive attitude throughout the weekend.  After two losses against ranked teams on Saturday, they came back on Sunday with a lot of energy, played well, and grinded out two hard fought victories."

Lydia Dadd had a career-high 20 saves in the matchup against Sonoma State and made a total of 50 blocks throughout the four games.

Mara Dominguez scored four goals in the three finals games of the weekend, and Kelly Frumkin tallied three in the Sunday matchups. Leading scorer Hannah Buck (13) had 11 kickouts drawn in the four games and leads the team with 17.

Wilbur highlights the importance and benefits of strength in goal and energy on defense.

"The whole team played well defensively, and Lydia had an outstanding weekend in the goal, said Wilbur. "That often goes hand in hand.  When the goalie plays well, that gives the defense extra energy, and when the defense plays well, that can get the goalie going.  Lydia got in a zone, and she played amazing all weekend long.  It's a credit to her and our team defense."

Next up, the Broncos will host the three-day Santa Clara Invitational, starting on Friday, Feb. 23. Santa Clara will face Cal Baptist at the Sullivan Aquatic Center on the opening day.
