SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara will open postseason action Friday with the start of the Golden Coast Conference Championship, which will be held in Los Angeles.

The Broncos (12-16, 1-6) will be the No. 7 seed in the three-day tournament that features eight games.

Santa Clara will face second-seeded LMU (16-4, 6-1) at 11 a.m. in first-round action.

"We played LMU earlier this month and lost," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "They are a very good team, but I think we can play much better than we did the first time. There are also some things that we can prepare for after watching film on the game. They are a strong first round matchup, but we look forward to the challenge."

The winner of the Santa Clara-LMU contest and the game between No. 3 seed San Diego State (13-15, 5-2) and sixth-seeded Cal Baptist (15-16, 3-4) will face off in one of Saturday's semifinals.

The Broncos had one-goal losses against both the Aztecs (6-5) and the Lancers (7-6) earlier this season.

"During the regular season conference play, we had some very close games that ended in losses," said Wilbur. "These playoffs are an opportunity to see some of these teams again, execute better down the stretch, and win these tight games."

Pacific (15-7, 7-0), which knocked off the Broncos Saturday, is the top seed in the tournament.

Action begins at 9:15 a.m. each day at Burns Aquatics Center.
