Women’s Water Polo Drops Regular-Season Finale to Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. – Kyra Christmas and Mariana Duarte each scored four times to lead Pacific to an 18-4 victory over Santa Clara women's water polo in Saturday's regular-season finale.

Savannah Fitzgerald tallied three goals and Viktoria Szmodics and Toula Falvey each scored twice for the eighth-ranked Tigers (14-8, 7-0) who won their 17th-straight Golden Coast Conference regular-season contest.

Hailey Eberle had two goals and Annie Eldredge two assists for the Broncos (8-16, 1-6).

Pacific pulled away with six straight goals in the first half. Eberle scored with 1:07 gone in the second quarter to close the gap to 5-3, but Duarte and Fitzgerald followed with goals in the next minute. Fitzgerald's strike with less than 2 minutes remaining before halftime increased the lead to 11-3.

Clara Vulpisi earned the win in net for the Tigers, posted four saves and three steals in her one half of action.

The Tigers scored on three of their eight attempts with the extra attacker. The Broncos had the same number of chances and connected once.

NOTES
Hannah Buck, Emma Allegrucci, Annie Eldredge Lauren Paxton Maggie Oys, Hailey Eberle and Lydia Dadd started the game. Dadd returned to the net after missing the last two games.

NEXT UP
The Broncos open play Friday in the Golden Coast Conference Championship, which will be held at Fresno State.
