Women’s Water Polo Outlasts Cal State East Bay in Overtime

HAYWARD, Calif.Hailey Eberle had a career-high six goals and three assists, and Kelly Frumkin scored twice, including the game-winner, to help lead Santa Clara women's water polo to a 15-13 road win over Cal State East Bay on Friday.

Adrien Van Dyke scored five times and Auriel Bill and Payton Bosque each tallied three goals for the Pioneers (0-4).

In a game tied 10 times, Bosque scored the go-ahead goal with 17 seconds left in the third quarter.

Katie Francis knotted the game at 12-all for the Broncos (4-4) with 5:38 left in the fourth quarter.

Santa Clara scored twice in the first extra session. Gabit Sicat tallied a goal and Frumkin netted the eventual game-winner with 1:34 left.

The teams traded goals in the second 3-minute overtime.

Lydia Dadd registered 11 saves, including six in the fourth quarter and overtime.

Cal State East Bay built a 6-3 lead midway through the second quarter with Van Dyke scoring all five of her goals.

But Eberle posted three straight goals in just more than 2 minutes of action to tie the game.

Neither team led by more than one until the extra session.

Santa Clara was 5-for-9 with the extra attacker and Cal State East Bay went 4 of 9.

Emma Allegrucci, Maddy Gomes, Kelly Frumkin, Maggie Oys, Hailey Eberle, Gabi Sicat and Lydia Dadd started the game.

Parking is $10 in the main campus parking structure, which is located on Palm Drive through the main campus entrance (500 El Camino Drive).
