Women’s Water Polo Finishes Out Play at Wolverine Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Santa Clara women's water polo had a win and a loss on the final day of the Wolverine Invitational.

The Broncos (8-6) knocked off Saint Francis, 13-7, before falling to Long Beach State, 13-7, on Sunday in the six-team, two-day tournament.

Santa Clara 13, Saint Francis 7

Hailey Eberle had four goals and four assists and Santa Clara stopped 12 of 13 chances with the extra attacker to post a 13-7 win over Saint Francis.

Emma Allegrucci Abby Fleming, Malena Nguyen and Maggie Oys each scored twice for the Broncos who never trailed and led 5-1 just more than 8 minutes into the game.

Oys scored with 11 second left in the first half to build an 11-3 lead. Eberle scored less than 2 minutes later.

Addison Williams scored four times for the Red Flash.

Long Beach State 13, Santa Clara 7

Elena Kotanchyan and Anne de Kleer each tallied three goals to lead Long Beach State to a 13-7 win over the Broncos.

The 49ers scored four straight goals to snap a 4-all tie in the second quarter and pulled away by scoring three times early in the fourth.

Kelly Frumkin's goal pulled the Broncos with 9-5 on a goal 27 seconds into the final quarter, but de Kleer scored twice and Sarah Barker once in the next 2 minutes for Long Beach State.

Maggie Oys and Hailey Eberle each had two goals for the Broncos.
