Women's Water Polo Finishes Out Play at Triton Invitational

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Santa Clara women's water polo fell short in both games on the final day of the Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego.

The Broncos (1-3) lost to Marist, 17-6, and then fell to Pomona-Pitzer, 11-8, later in the afternoon.

Marist 17, Santa Clara 6

The Red Foxes scored the first seven goals of the game, and the Broncos we unable to recover. 

Marist led 8-2 heading into the second half.

Elle Fredrickson scored twice, and Lauren Baglietto, Maddie Clough, Kelly Frumkin and Lauren Voss each posted a goal for the Broncos.

Pomona-Pitzer 11, Santa Clara 8

The Broncos battled Pomona-Pitzer in a close game, but Pomona-Pitzer was able to pull away in the third period with four goals, stretching their lead 10-6.  

Santa Clara fought back with two more goals in the fourth period, but they fell short. 

Mia Battilega scored three times and posted one assist for the Broncos. 

Lauren Baglietto and Elle Fredrickson tallied two goals each, and Lauren Voss had three steals and two assists. 

Liyara Senadheera was credited with 14 blocks for the Broncos.
