Dean Obara is in his fourth year as associate director of media relations at Santa Clara. Obara currently oversees media relations for men's soccer, softball, men’s and women’s tennis.
Prior to joining Santa Clara, Obara served a two-year internship at the San José State Athletics Department. During his time at San José State, he was the media relations contact for men’s soccer, baseball, men’s golf plus men’s and women’s cross country. Obara made a career change to the athletics communications field after having worked in the private sector for nearly twenty years, mostly in Information Technology as a software quality assurance tester and project manager.
Obara graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison as a double-major in Sociology and Japanese.
