AZUSA, Calif. — Jack Davidson recorded Santa Clara's fifth new school record of the 2019 track & field season on Friday night at the Bryan Clay Invitational. He clocked a 1,500-meter 3:47.59 to break his own program record by more than a second at Cougar Stadium.
Zach Litoff posted a 1,500-meter personal best 3:50.15 to top the field of 154 runners in the 1,500-meter open section. Jorge Estrella captured third place in his 5,000-meter heat by crossing the finish line in 14:25.04, good for No. 4 on the program's top 10 list.
"I was really pleased with our performances at Bryan Clay," head coach Felipe Montoro said. "Most of the guys had to balance a tough week academically with traveling and competing. By and large the guys ran really well. Spencer Fischer, Jorge Estrella and Evan Misuraca stood out in particular."
"The meet was very competitive and had incredibly deep fields in the distance events. Both Zach Litoff and Jack Davidson had great races, still with room for improvement. They will have some more competitive opportunities in the future as they prepare for NCAA West Preliminaries."
