Baseball Loses Final Midweek Game at Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - In a duel of predetermined rotations, Christian Robinson drove in three runs against three different pitchers to lead second-ranked Stanford to a 5-1 win over Santa Clara baseball on Tuesday night in a nonconference game.

Stanford (35-8) banged out 12 hits, all singles, against seven Santa Clara (11-35) pitchers.   Robinson collected four of those hits on a 4-for-4 performance with his first three hits driving in a run.  He singled home Tim Tawa in the third, fifth and sixth innings.

Robinson's first RBI tied the game at 1-1 in the home half of the third after the Broncos drew first blood in the top of the inning on an RBI single by Andre Nnebe against starter Alex Williams.  SCU collected all of its six hits against Williams as relievers Jacob Palisch, Zach Grech and Austin Weiermiller retired 14 of the final 15 hitters.

Williams (6-1) was credited with the win despite going 4 1/3 innings due to a predetermined rotation.  He allowed just the one run on six hits with three strikeouts.

Alex Waldsmith (0-1) took the loss after giving up two runs on three hits in the third frame.  Seven Bronco pitchers recorded 12 strikeouts with starter Brandon Buckley and Alex Tisminezky leading the way with three punch outs each.

The team combined for 18 hits in the game with all but one were singles.
