SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Travis Adams tossed seven strong innings and combined with two Sacramento State relievers to shutout Santa Clara baseball 10-0 on Saturday.
Adams allowed just two hits on the night, a single to Michael O'Hara in the first and another to Ryan McCarthy in the third, before retiring 14-straight Broncos, to pick up the win. Brady Rodriguez and Wesley Harper each tossed an inning in relief as the Hornets trio did not issue a walk and allow a base runner past second base.
Jorge Bojorquez went 3-for-5 and drove in five runs including a three-run home run in the fifth that broke the game open.
Santa Clara (3-7) starter Brandon Buckley had another solid outing, pitching four shutout innings before giving way to Skylar Hales in a scoreless game.
In the fifth, Keith Torres singled in two runs against Hales to put Sacramento State up 2-0. Ryan Waldstad who went 3-for-5 on the night had an RBI single against new reliever Nick Sando before Bojorquez's home run against Matthew McGarry to give Sacramento State a 6-0 lead.
The Hornets (7-3) put up two more runs in the seventh on Bojorquez's double and in the ninth on pinch-hitter Hunter Dorraguh's two-run home run.
The Sacramento State pitching staff did not issue a walk for the second straight game and allowed only four hits.
