Jay Brossman joined the Santa Clara University baseball program in July 2021 as an assistant coach where he serves as the Broncos’ hitting coach and assists with recruiting. Hen. is in his second season.

Brossman came to the from the University of Utah having spent nine years on the baseball staff. A former four-time all-conference infielder for the Utes, Brossman completed his fifth year as a full-time assistant coach in 2021 serving as the hitting coach and running the offense for head coach Bill Kinneberg who retired after the season.

Under Brossman, Utah had one of its best offensive seasons in 2017 when they hit for a .287 batting average, the highest since the Utes joined the Pac-12 in 2012. The Utes also had Pac-12 era highs in slugging percentage (.399), on-base percentage (.375), RBI (280), hits (514) and runs scored (311).

Under Brossman’s tutelage,three Utes - Dallas Carroll, DaShawn Keirsey, Jr. and Oliver Dunn - were selected in the MLB draft in consecutive years. Carroll was drafted in the ninth round by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2017 MLB draft and Keirsey was selected in the fourth round by the Minnesota Twins in 2018 while Dunn went in the 11th round to the New York Yankees in the 2019 draft.

Carroll earned All-America honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association in 2017 and was a two-time All-Pac-12 selection. Keirsey was a three-time All-Pac-12 and All-Defensive Team selection (2016-18) for the Utes. Dunn was voted Third-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball in 2019.

In 2015 and 2016, Brossman worked as the volunteer assistant coach for the Utes, overseeing the infield defense and assisting with hitting to help Utah win its first Pac-12 Championship in 2016.

Prior to 2015, Brossman spent two years as the Director of Operations and also served a year as a student-assistant coach (2012) where he worked as camp director, assisted with the preseason banquet and helped promote alumni relations.

The Pullman, Washington native hit .359 for the Utes from 2004-07, setting school records for hits (307), doubles (69), and total bases (482). Brossman was selected in the 36th round of the 2007 MLB draft and spent five years in the Los Angeles Angels minor league system. He was a Pioneer League All-Star in 2007.

Brossman earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Utah in 2012.
