AS A FRESHMAN IN 2010-11: After sidelined by injury, was redshirted ... collected 1 reb. and a three-point attempt in his Bronco debut vs. CSU-B, playing one minute ... played 2 min. vs. Arizona ... played 2 min. in loss to UCSB ... has not played due to a badly sprained ankle and he has been in a walking boot since early December.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2010 graduate of Oakwood Collegiate Institute in Toronto, Ontario … played for head coach Anthony Miller and helped Oakwood win the Ontario Provincial Championship with a record of 39-4 … his senior year averaged 23.2 ppg, 11.1 rpg and 8.9 apg … as a senior he was named the Canadian High School Player of the Year and MVP of the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) … received All-Academic First Team and All-Canadian High School First Team accolades … his junior year averaged 16.7 ppg, 8.8 rpg and 7 apg leading Oakwood to a 22-11 record… he was named MVP of OFSAA and won Bronze medal with Team Ontario at 2009 Canadian Summer Games.

PERSONAL: Parents are Norman Clarke and Natalie Vukovich … his Dad played basketball at St. Bonaventure University and on the 1988 Canadian Olympic National Team … his Mom helped Laurentian University win the National Title during the 1978-79 season. She also played on the Canadian Junior National Team and is in the school’s Sports Hall of Fame … has two younger siblings, Brody Clarke and Rachel Vukovich, and an aunt who played professional volleyball and basketball in Italy … volunteered over 200 hours coaching low income children with the Toronto Triple Threat basketball club, and single handedly raised nearly $1,400 for Oakwood Athletics by organizing consecutive 3-on-3 tournaments in 2008 and 2009… he is an accomplished piano player and was on the Principal’s honor role for all four years in high school.

COACH KEATING ON CLARKE: "Julian comes from a basketball background. His father played a prominent role in Canadian basketball and also played at St. Bonaventure. His mother was a really good basketball player in college. We really feel we have found a gem in Julian. He is someone who has unbelievable drive to succeed in everything he does. He has great academic drive and a willingness to do whatever he needs to help his team win. He has a strong desire to help his team improve and most of all, a tremendous ability to shoot the basketball. Julian will be a great representative of the Bronco community as well as a great teammate. Julian won at the highest level that his high school could achieve in winning the gold medal. He was fortunate to be coached by Anthony Miller as well as his father."

WHY CLARKE CHOSE SANTA CLARA: "I chose Santa Clara University because both my family and I decided it was the perfect spot to develop as a student, an athlete and as a person. The academic situation is great and it is clear that student comes before athlete. The team has a great upside and I am looking forward to being part of a Bronco squad that fights its way all the way to the Big Dance. The team is a great group of guys that are friendly and fun to be around and also work hard on the basketball court. They are closely knit and I am glad to become a part of that also. The coaches are energetic, excited, and knowledgeable and they are also approachable and personable. So are the professors. The class sizes are ideal and teachers want you to succeed. It is a beautiful campus and everyone on it is on your side. I feel that going to Santa Clara for four years means going to Santa Clara for life. I can develop a network and family of people at this university that will stay with me wherever my life may lead. There is nothing more that I could want out of a university. I'm thankful, excited, and ready to work! Go Broncos!!"
