SAN FRANCISCO - Santa Clara men's golf made a big leap up the leaderboard on day two of The Goodwin hosted by Stanford at TPC Harding Park, carding a 1-under 279 for the round to climb 10 spots in the team standings. The Broncos enter Saturday's final round in 10th place at 7-over 288-279--567.
Four of the five Bronco individuals climbed at least 12 spots on the leaderboard. For the second-straight day, Julian Paltrinieri found himself as Santa Clara's leader in the clubhouse after turning in 1-under 69 for the day. Paltrinieri tallied five birdies on the afternoon and finds himself in a 13-way tie for 25th at even par-140, and just two strokes out of the top 10. Right on his heels is Viraj Garewal, who shot the low round of the day for the Broncos at 2-under 68 with four birdie putts, and climbed 47 spots to tie for 38th at 1-over 141.
Calder Overfelt climbed 12 spots of his own an even-par 70 to finish a shot back from Garewal in a tie for 47th while Nolan Forsman had a four-stroke improvement from the opening round with a 2-over 72 to jump up 19 spots into a tie for 110th at 8-over 148. Eugenio Bernardi is tied for 129th at 72-78--150.
No. 11 Georgia Tech (547) holds a one-stroke advantage over No. 13 Oklahoma (548) for the top two spots in the team standings while the Sooners' Ben Lorenz and Washington's Bo Peng hold the individual lead at 6-under 134.
