FRESHMAN (2016): Redshirted the 2016 season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played soccer and baseball for St. Monica Academy … three time International League Champion and two time International League MVP.
CLUB: Has played for four different academies since 2009 … captained his LA Premier FC squad to the NHB Cup Final … conceded four goals in six games against nationally ranked opponents during post season run … captained FC Golden State Academy.
PERSONAL: Hails from Pasadena, CA … his father, Len, played soccer from 1983-86 before coaching the Broncos between 1991-96 … his cousin, Michael gates, played soccer at Santa Clara from 2011-14 … his two uncles, Todd Gates and Jim Hagan, played baseball and lacrosse respectively … his aunt, Mary Kay Gates, competed in softball … his hobbies include surfing, skiing, and playing baseball.
WHY I CHOSE SANTA CLARA: There are several reasons why I chose to attend Santa Clara University. One reason is because of Coaches Rast and Yamamoto. I have known both coaches for most of my life. My dad coached Cam in 1991 at SCU and coached with Cam in 1995 & 1996. Cam and Eric are great coaches. I came to Santa Clara to play for them, and to win a National Championship with them.
I chose Santa Clara also because of its academic reputation. I wanted to attend a nationally ranked school where I could be challenged by great professors and get a great education.
Another factor that made Santa Clara a clear choice for me was its campus and facilities. The campus is beautiful, and the Stevens Soccer Training Center is the best in the country.
Having family member graduates of SCU was final reason I chose to be a Bronco. In addition to my parents, I also have 7 aunts and uncles, and 1 cousin who attended SCU. The legacy of my family at Santa Clara has always made SCU a top choice for me.
