SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara beach volleyball gets its 2021 season started with four duals in two days on Thursday and Friday. The Broncos hit the sand to face Pacific, Saint Mary's, No. 5 LMU and San Francisco at Santa Cruz Main Beach.
SCU plays its first dual of the slate Thursday with a 12:30 p.m. matchup against the Tigers, then has a quick turnaround against the Gaels at 2:30 p.m. The team starts early on Friday with a 10 a.m. first serve against the Lions before wrapping up the event with a 2 p.m. contest against the Dons.
The Broncos are coming off of a 3-11 season in 2020, which was cancelled due midway through the schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They won three of four duals in early March, including the first dual win on SCU grounds in program history over Pacific (March 4) and two victories in one day over Cal State Bakersfield and Sacramento State in Santa Cruz (March 7).
