Two Women's Golfers Earn Conference Academic Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara's Sarah Busey and Marni Murez were among seven student-athletes named to the 2018-19 WCC Women's Golf All-Academic team.

Busey recorded a team-best 73.43 stroke average, playing in all 10 events. The sophomore posted six top 10 finishes, including a fourth-place showing at last month's WCC Championship (April 18-20) and a tie for second at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic (April 8-9).

A finance major who maintains a 3.54 grade-point average, Busey was even or under-par in seven of her final nine rounds of the season.

Playing in nine tournaments, Murez posted a stroke average of 77.26. She recorded three top 20 finishes, including a season-best fourth-place showing at the UC Irvine Invitational (Oct. 29-30). The junior possesses a 4.00 GPA in neuroscience.

To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.
