Women’s Tennis Continues to Compete at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships

STANFORD, Calif. – The four Santa Clara women's tennis players who advanced to the round of 32 at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships in doubles and singles with their stellar play a day earlier were all eliminated on Saturday.  
 
In the morning session, two Santa Clara doubles teams were defeated.    
 
The Broncos number one doubles team of Elvena Gevargiz and Maddie Pothoff lost to San Jose State's Savannah Sendar and Rozalina Youseva, 8-5.   Also, Nadine Del Carmen and Caitlyn Frankel fell, 8-2, to Kate Ketels and Vlada Medvedcova of Gonzaga.
 
In singles play, Gevargiz took the first set against Pacific's Klara Kosan before dropping the last two sets to fall, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2.
 
Cal's Katerina Stloukalova beat Pothoff in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
 
Santa Clara also participated in six consolation matches, going 3-1 in singles and 0-2 in doubles.  Katya Tabachnik, Lindsey Pesqueira and Nadine Del Carmen picked up the three singles wins.
