    The Santa Clara volleyball team has always had a hand in the Santa Clara community, and this spring has been no different. From the Walk 4 Pancreatic Cancer to the St. Raymond School clinic to upcoming summer camps, the Broncos are a busy group.

    It is that time of year again to come out and walk for pancreatic cancer so come out and join the Bronco volleyball team and a number of other Bronco student-athletes, coaches and staff. The Fifth Annual Walk 4 Pancreatic Cancer will take place on the Santa Clara University campus on Sat., May 11 at 8:30 am. It's a 5K walk that will start and end at the campus library, across from Benson.

    While most teams are preparing for fall volleyball season, this freshman from Santa Barbara, Calif. is in the midst of playing the squad’s newest obsession, beach volleyball. During the past fall season, Rottman played in 48 sets and earned 33 digs, and three blocks. SantaClaraBroncos.com (SCB) was able to sit down with Danielle Rottman (DR) and talk about her time as a Bronco so far, some of her training tips, and memorable experiences.
  • Coming Off 14th NCAA Tournament, Santa Clara Volleyball Adds Six+ Sand Volleyball Dates to Indoor Spring Schedule

    Santa Clara volleyball, fresh off its 14th NCAA appearance in 2012, has hit the ground running this winter and is looking forward to both its indoor spring schedule and the sand volleyball schedule as well. After playing in an informal sand tournament last year in Malibu, Santa Clara will add at least six dates of sand volleyball during the months of March-April with the schedule to be released later. In addition to their training schedule and competition dates, Santa Clara’s volleyball team will host the Fifth Annual Walk For Pancreatic Cancer on Sat., May 11, 2013 at 8 am on the Mission campus (more details to come so mark your calendar today!). The team has raised more than $90,000 over the past five years for cancer research.

    SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Junior Megan Anders (MA) had one of her best seasons this past fall as a part of the Santa Clara volleyball team. Anders played in 127 sets with 383 kills and had a hitting percentage of .361. SantaClaraBroncos.com (SCB) had the chance to sit down with Anders and discuss her season as well as how she plans to prepare for senior year.

  • Broncos Fall To No. 8 Hawaii In NCAA First Round

    Playing in the school’s 14th NCAA tournament, Santa Clara fell in the first round 3-0 to No. 8 Hawaii. Hawaii, who ran through its conference undefeated this year with an 18-0 record, advances to Saturday night’s second round to play the winner of the No. 5 Washington – Central Arkansas being played later Friday.
  • Volleyball's Anders Named First Team All-WCC, Milton Tabbed As Honorable Mention All-WCC

    Leading Santa Clara to the school’s 14th NCAA tournament, junior middle blocker Megan Anders was named to the West Coast Conference First Team on Monday. It is the 15th straight season the Santa Clara volleyball team has placed at least one player on the West Coast Conference First Team. In addition, sophomore Taylor Milton was named to the All-WCC Honorable Mention team. Last week Kayla Lommori was named to the 12-member All-Academic Team with two others being named Honorable Mention: junior Katherine Douglas and sophomore Katy Schatzman.
  • Volleyball Receives 14th NCAA Tournament Bid; To Play No. 8 Hawaii in Seattle on Friday

    The Broncos volleyball team can’t wait to take the practice court this afternoon at 3 pm. The Santa Clara volleyball team received the school’s 14th NCAA tournament bid on Sunday and will be play No. 8 Hawaii on Fri., Nov. 30. The Broncos are 20-11 this season and Hawaii, who plays out of the Big West Conference, is 25-2. The winner will advance to the play the winner of No. 5 Washington (23-6) vs. Central Arkansas (30-4) game on Sat., Dec. 1.
  • Lommori Leads Three Broncos Named to WCC All-Academic Teams

    Excelling both in the classroom and on the court, Santa Clara senior Kayla Lommori was named to the 2012 West Coast Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team on Monday. Junior Katherine Douglas and sophomore Katy Schatzman were both named to the All-Academic Honorable Mention team.
  • Volleyball Drops Final Regular Season Match at Saint Mary's

    Finishing off the regular season, Santa Clara dropped a 3-0 match at Saint Mary’s on Saturday. Set scores were 14-25, 18-25 and 13-25. Santa Clara finishes the regular season at 20-11 and 9-8 in the WCC. Saint Mary’s is 17-10 and 12-4 in the WCC. Santa Clara will now wait until next Sunday (Nov. 25) to see if it receives an at-large NCAA tournament berth.
  • Broncos Fall to LMU on Senior Night for Volleyball

    On Bronco Senior Night in the Leavey Center, Santa Clara fell 3-0 Thursday night in West Coast Conference action to LMU. Set scores were 18-25, 19-25 and 22-25. Santa Clara is 20-10 and 9-6 in the West Coast Conference. LMU is 18-11 and 8-7 in the WCC.

  • Volleyball Hosts Senior Night Thursday vs. LMU; Watch Video With Coach Wallace, Lexi and Kayla!

    Santa Clara hosts LMU for its Senior Night on Thurs., Nov. 15 at 6 pm before travelling to Saint Mary’s for its final regular season match of the year on Sat., Nov. 17 at 1 pm. The Broncos will say goodbye to seniors Lexi Williamson and Kayla Lommori, both four-year starters. Santa Clara enters the week at 20-9 and 9-5 in the West Coast Conference. Santa Clara is in fourth place. LMU is 17-11 and 7-7 in the WCC. Saint Mary’s enters Thursday’s match at USF with a 15-10 record and 10-4 in the WCC.
  • Volleyball Splits Season Series With No. 14 BYU

    After defeating No. 14 BYU at home on Oct. 20, BYU returned the favor on Saturday when No. 14 the Cougars defeated Santa Clara 3-0. Set scores were 9-25, 19-25 and 20-25. Santa Clara returns home Thursday to host LMU in the final regular season home match of the year and it will honor its seniors that night as well.
  • Volleyball Wins 20th Match of the Year With 3-2 Win Over USF

    Santa Clara won its 20th match of the year on Thursday night with a 3-2 win over USF. Santa Clara is 9-3 in five set matches this year, including 4-1 in West Coast Conference play. Set scores were 25-21, 25-27, 25-15, 17-25 and 15-12. SCU is 20-8 and 9-4 in the WCC. USF is 14-12 and 5-8 in the WCC. Santa Clara will travel to No. 14 BYU on Saturday before returning home next Thursday night for its final home match of the year – Senior Night.

    Continuing West Coast Conference play, Santa Clara will host USF on Thursday night at 6 pm in the Leavey Center and then travel to Provo, Utah to face No. 14 BYU on Saturday at 12 pm. Prior to the match with the Dons, the Santa Clara volleyball team will join the women’s golf team and the women’s and men’s basketball teams in presenting a check to UCSF for Pancreatic Cancer research.   • Volleyball Defeats Portland For Its 19th Win Of The Year

    Led by the talented play of junior middle blocker Megan Anders and Haley Cameron, Santa Clara defeated Portland 3-1 Saturday afternoon in the Leavey Center. Set scores were 25-19, 21-25, 25-20 and 25-18. Santa Clara is 19-8 and 8-4 in the WCC. Portland is 6-21 and 0-13 in the WCC.

    Proving it knows how to finish a five-set match this year, Santa Clara was led by a career-high 28 kills by Megan Anders in its 3-2 win at San Francisco Thursday night. Santa Clara is now 8-3 in five-set matches this year, including 3-1 in West Coast Conference play.

    Fresh off its 3-2 win at No. 14 San Diego on Saturday, handing the Toreros their first home loss this season and just its fourth in three plus years, Santa Clara will head up I-280 on Thursday to play at USF at 6:30 pm. The Broncos will return home on Saturday when they host Portland at 1 pm.

    Defeating its third top 20 team in the past month, Santa Clara was victorious in San Diego Saturday when it finished off No. 14 San Diego in five sets. Set scores were 20-25, 28-26, 19-25, 25-22 and 15-13. Santa Clara is now 7-3 this season in five-set matches.

    Santa Clara fell 3-0 Thursday night to No. 25 Saint Mary’s. Set scores were 15-25, 20-25 and 23-25. Santa Clara is 16-8 and 5-4 in the WCC. Saint Mary’s is 12-9 and 7-3 in the WCC. Santa Clara travels to No. 14 San Diego for a 1 pm match on Saturday.

  • Volleyball's Anders Named West Coast Conference Player of the Week

    Junior middle blocker Megan Anders hit for a .500 clip with 39 kills, averaging 4.88 kpg and 0.50 bpg, leading Santa Clara to a 2-0 record this past week and for her efforts, she was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week. With the victories, the Broncos improve to 16-7 overall and 5-3 in WCC play.
  • Santa Clara Volleyball Knocks Out No. 16 BYU In Five

    Defeating its second top 20 West Coast Conference team in less than a month, Santa Clara beat No. 16 BYU 3-2 on Saturday afternoon in the Leavey Center, handing the Cougars just their second loss of the year. Set scores were 31-29, 20-25, 25-21, 13-25 and 16-14 Santa Clara is 16-7 and 5-3 in league play. BYU falls to 19-2 and 7-2 in the WCC.
  • Junior Setter Alyssa Anderson Hopes To Lead The Volleyball Team To A Victory Over No. 16 BYU

    By: Shelby Soltau ‘16 SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara volleyball team impressively beat No. 18 Pepperdine University on September 29th. Junior setter Alyssa Anderson (AA) helped the team with 28 assists and 13 digs. As the team readies to host No. 16 BYU, Anderson leads the team with 6.39 apg and is tied for the team lead with 0.33 sapg. She also collects 2.00 dpg. Recently, www.SantaClaraBroncos.com had the chance to talk to Anderson about the team’s goals, her responsibilities on the team and the 2012 Summer Olympics.
  • Volleyball Hosts Alumni Day and Breast Cancer Awareness Event vs. No. 16 BYU Saturday

    Santa Clara will host second-year West Coast Conference member and No. 16 BYU on Saturday at 1 pm. The Cougars play at Saint Mary’s on Thursday night and the Broncos come into the match after a 3-0 beating of Sac State on Tuesday night. Immediately following the match, the men’s basketball team will host its annual Red & White Scrimmage.

    Santa Clara defeated Sacramento State 3-0 Tuesday night in its last non-conference match of the year. Set scores were 25-22, 25-14 and 25-14. Santa Clara returns to West Coast Conference action on Saturday when it hosts No. 16 BYU at 1 pm in the Leavey Center.
