Santa Clara has won two of its last three outings, including a split in Saturday's home games. The Broncos followed an impressive 12-7 win over Cal State Monterey Bay with a heartbreaking 7-6 loss at the hands of UC Davis.

"We played our best water polo last weekend, and we look forward carrying that momentum into this weekend against great competition," Santa Clara head coach Keith Wilbur said. "Stanford is the No. 2 team in the country, so it is both a great opportunity and a great challenge to play them."

The matchup against the local rival Spartans is always an entertaining battle.

"We saw San Jose State play a month ago at the UC Davis tournament, and they also looked very good," Wilbur said. "We have put ourselves in good situations against some strong teams this year, and we are getting better at executing on time out plays, 6-on-5's, and defense in the fourth quarter. This is what it takes to win against good teams, and I like the direction we are going."
