Women's Water Polo Opens the Season This Weekend

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's water polo opens the regular season this weekend.

The Broncos will meet Pacific on the road in a Golden Coast Conference game on Saturday at 5 p.m., and face San Jose State at home on Sunday at 10:30 p.m. Spectators will not be permitted into Sulllivan Aquatic Center due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

Lauren Baglietto, Kelly Frumkin and Gabi Sicat are among the top returning offensive threats for the Broncos who had their 2020 season cur short by the COVID-19 pandemic. Baglietto tallied 13 goals playing in all 15 games last season. Frumkin scored nine times and Sicat chipped in eight along with 13 assists.

Alexa Grau and Grace Kavanagh are netminders with experience. Kavanagh has played in 14 games the last two years and Grau 10.

Pacific has played once this season, falling to UC Davis, 14-8, on Sunday.

San Jose State has played twice, losing to Cal, 19-8, on Feb. 27, and to UC Davis, 6-4, on Friday.
