Women’s Water Polo Knocks Off West Valley College

SARATOGA, Calif. – A balanced offensive attack helped push Santa Clara women's water polo past West Valley College.

Lauren Baglietto, Mia Battilega, Elle Fredrickson and Gabi Sicat each registered two goals for the Broncos in Wednesday's 11-5 exhibition victory over the Vikings.

Santa Clara (0-4) pulled away by scoring the final six goals after the game was knotted at 5-all at the end of the third quarter.

Lauren Voss added one goal and four assists for the Broncos who were 3-for-11 with the extra attacker. But they held the Vikings to just one goal in eight attempts on the power play.

Grace Kavanagh went the distance in net for the win. She registered eight saves and a pair of steals.

NOTES
Lauren Baglietto. Mia Battilega, Malena Nguyen, Elle Fredrickson, Lauren Voss and Gabi Sicat started the game.
• Baglietto drew four kickouts and Nguyen three. Nguyen was also credited with three of the team's 13 steals.
• Both of Baglietto's goals came on the power play.

NEXT UP
The Broncos will play a pair of Golden Coast Conference games at Loyola Marymount on Saturday. They will face the host Lions at 10 a.m. and Concordia at 1 p.m.
