Women’s Water Polo Falls to Fresno State

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Fresno State used a balanced and efficient offensive attack to down Santa Clara women's water polo, 22-7, on Saturday.

Tori Gacutan had three goals and eight other players scored twice for the Bulldogs (10-5, 6-1) who earned a share of the Golden Coast Conference regular-season title with the victory.

Malena Nguyen had two goals for the Broncos (0-8, 0-7) who recognized their seniors prior to the game.

The Bulldogs tallied the first seven goals of the game in earning their sixth win in the last seven outings.

Kaitlin Howarth scored twice and had two assists for Fresno State which scored on nine of its 11 chances with the extra attacker and needed only 32 shots to match a season-high in goals.

Gabi Sicat, one of two active Santa Clara seniors, had a goal in her final game at Sullivan Aquatic Center.

Maddie Clough had one and three assists for the Broncos.

Mia Battilega, Malena Nguyen, Natalie Brauser, Elle Fredrickson, Lauren Voss and Gabi Sicat started the game. Battilega, Nguyen, Fredrickson and Sicat started all eight games on the season
