Track & Field’s Litoff Concludes Historic Season at NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. — Santa Clara track and field's Zach Litoff wrapped up a historic campaign at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday night. Litoff clocked an 8:44.66 in the 3,000m steeplechase semifinal for 12th place in his heat and 20th place overall at Hayward Field.

The Boulder, Colorado native is the first Bronco in program history to reach the national championship meet. Litoff, Santa Clara's fastest steepler in program history, made his second-straight appearance in the postseason after qualifying for the NCAA regional meet steeplechase in 2019.

"What an incredible season for Zach," head coach Felipe Montoro said. "Zach gained some invaluable experience here in Oregon and any time someone accomplishes something that has never been done before, we have to celebrate it.

"Now that we have broken through this year in both cross country and track and field at the national level, the bar has been raised. I can't wait to see who the next Bronco is to make it back to nationals."
