Baseball Completes Sweep of San Jose State with a 18-4 Win on Sunday
SANTA CLARA, Calif.Jake MacNichols homered twice as part of a 22-hit attack to power Santa Clara baseball past San Jose State 18-4 to claim a series sweep on Sunday afternoon at Stephen Schott Stadium.

For the second straight game, every Bronco hitter in the starting lineup collected a base hit with eight of them getting multiple hits.  Connor Henriques and Austin Reyes paced the Broncos going 4-for-5 each while MacNichols went 3-for-5 with a career-high five RBIs.

MacNichols got the ball rolling for the Broncos offense with a two-run home run against SJSU starter Trevor Allen in the first inning to put the Broncos up 2-0.

After San José State (0-4) tied it up at 2-all in the top half of the second, the Broncos sent 10 batters to the plate, putting up seven runs in the home half of the inning to take a commanding 9-2 lead, knocking out Allen (0-1) who took the loss.  Five of the eight hits in the inning went for extra bases including a two-run home run by Mike Bowes and RBI triples by Jason Dicochea and Ryan McCarthy.

Meanwhile, six Bronco pitchers held the Spartans to four hits with Alex Tisminezky (1-0) picking up the win after tossing two scoreless innings in the second and third frames.

The runs kept coming for Santa Clara (4-0).  MacNichols' solo shot in the fourth made it 10-2 and the Broncos once again batted around the lineup in the sixth to put up four more runs, including a two-RBI single by MacNichols.

Reece Hernandez went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for San Jose State.
