Walkoff Home Run Sends Baseball Past Cal Poly in 10

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – A wild, back-and-forth game went to extra innings before Malcolm Williams sent Santa Clara baseball home with a 11-10 walkoff win over Cal Poly Tuesday.

After the Mustangs (14-24) had scored a run in the top of the 10th, Efrain Manzo led off the bottom of the frame with a triple and came in on Coleman Brigman's sacrifice fly to tie the score. On the very next pitch, Williams blasted one out to left center that gave the Broncos (20-15) the win.

The game was in extras because C. Brigman hit a two-run home run of his own in the bottom of the eighth with his team down two runs. He finished the night with three hits and four RBIs. C. Brigman was joined in going deep by his brother Dawson who added two hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored as well.

Skylar Hales (4-4) ended up with the win out of the bullpen despite serving up a home run in the top of the 10th. He punched out three in 2 innings of relief. Brandon Gomez went 2 innings in the start, ending up with a no-decision. All the damage came in the first when he gave up three runs on four hits with a walk. He bounced back with a perfect second that featured two ground outs and a strikeout.

Cal Poly was on top when C. Brigman tied things up thanks to a four-run seventh, highlighted by a three-run home run from Evan Cloyd, his second hit of the night. Jake Steels and Ryan Stafford both joined Cloyd with the long ball.

Holden Garcia (1-1) got hung with the loss. He gave up two runs on three hits with two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings. Starter Kaden Sheedy went 2-plus innings in the start and got a no-decision. He allowed two runs on three hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
