SANTA CLARA, Calif. - For the first time since 1989, Santa Clara men's basketball will play in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). The Broncos will open the tournament on the road against 4-seed Washington State in Pullman, Wash., on Tuesday, March 15 at 8:00 p.m. PT. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.

The Broncos are 21-11 on the year and finished third in the WCC third for their best conference finish since 2006-07.
This will be the fifth appearance in the NIT for Santa Clara in program history. Their previous four stops all occured in the 1980s (1984, 1985, 1988 and 1989). Overall, Santa Clara has been to 15 postseason tournaments between the NCAA Tournament and NIT.
