NOTES

  • The Broncos are 2-1 on the season and coming off their first loss - a 96-74 final at Utah State.

  • Sophomore Brandin Podziemski leads the team in scoring (25.3 ppg) and rebounding (8.0 rpg).

  • Podziemski is the reigning WCC Player of the Week - first Bronco to win the award since Dec. 2018.

  • Herb Sendek needs just one win to reach 100 for his Santa Clara career. He is also just four wins away from tying Hall of Famer John Chaney for 67th in NCAA D1 History.

  • Podziemski became the first player in school history and first in the WCC since at least 2000 to open a career with back-to-back 30 pt games. He is one of just four players in NCAA D1 over the last 10 seasons to avg 30 ppg and 10 reb through the first two games of a season, and the first Bronco since Jared Brownridge (2014) to record back-to-back 30 pt games.

  • SCU leads the WCC and ranks 43rd nationally in rebounds per game (43.3).

  • SCU is 12-19 all-time against teams from the Big East Conference. Their last game (and win) against a Big East opponent was in 2011 (Villanova).

  • DePaul is 3-0 on the year and is coming off a convincing 69-53 road victory against Minnesota. The Blue Demons, led by second-year head coach Tony Stubblefield, are averaging 75.7 points per contest and shooting 48.3 percent from the floor. They feature a pair of outstanding scoring threats in forward Javan Johnson (19.3 ppg) and guard Umoja Gibson (16.7 ppg).

  • This will be just the sixth meeting all-time between the programs. They last met on Dec. 12, 1981 when the seventh-ranked Blue Demons won 80-58.

  • Entering his sophomore season with just two starts under his belt, Carlos Stewart has been nothing short of impressive through three games this year. Starting all three games at PG, the Baton Rouge native is averaging 13.0 ppg. He opened the year by scoring a career best 20 pts and followed suit with a 14 pt outing against Georgia Southern.

  • For the first time in program history, Santa Clara has a pair of Gatorade State Players of the Year on their current roster - sophomores Carlos Stewart (Louisiana) and Brandin Podziemski (Wisconsin).
