Men's Golf Wraps Up First Round Play At Desert Mountain Collegiate

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Santa Clara men's golf senior Jack Avrit had the top score of the day, shooting an even-par 72 in the first round to tie for 31st at the Desert Mountain Collegiate. The Broncos finished the round in 14th at 7-over 295. 

The field of 16 was supposed to knock out 36 holes on Saturday, but play was suspended due to darkeness. The second round will wrap up first thing in the morning, teeing off at 7:40 a.m. PT with the final round commencing immediately after. 

Berk Harvey and Alejandro Gutierrez tied for 40th at 1-over 73, Zack Kaneshiro tied for 64th at 5-over 77 and Jolo Magcalayo is in 83rd after an opening round 82. Round two scores will not be official until the round concludes in the morning. Cameron Kaiser, playing as an individual, is tied for 73rd at 6-over 78. 

Mississippi State held both the team lead at 12-under 276 and had the round's top individual, Ford Clegg at 7-under 65.
