Men’s Golf To Round Out Season At WCC Championship

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - After a long season which included four fall events and seven spring events, the Santa Clara men's golf team will end their year playing against some familiar competitors at the WCC Championship to be played across the Puget Sound from Seattle in Bremerton, Wash.

NOTES

  • In the Broncos' most recent showing at the El Macero Classic, the team finished in 9th place out of 20 teams. Also, notably Viraj Garewal and Julien Paltrinieri finished within the Top-15 in the event.

  • The last time that the WCC Championship was held at Gold Mountain GC, in 2014, the Broncos placed second, their best finish in the past decade. In more recent years, the Broncos tied for third at the playing of the event that occurred in 2018 . 

  • The field of nine WCC schools competing this week will be Santa Clara, BYU, Gonzaga, LMU, Pacific, Pepperdine, Saint Mary's, San Diego, and USF.

  • The starting five to end the season consists of Paltrinieri, Garewal, Calder Overfelt, Eugenio Bernardi, and Alex Conley. Nolan Forsman will also be making the trip as a substitute. Additionally, Garewal and Overfelt have been the only two Broncos to play every event while Paltrinieri has played in every event except one.

  • The Broncos will be going off in the second group of threesomes alongside USF and San Diego beginning at 8:20 AM PT tomorrow morning.
