This Week: Final Non-Conference Match at Sacramento State
Santa Clara men's soccer will play its final non-conference and final regular season road match of the season Thursday afternoon when they play at Sacramento State. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 from the Hornet Soccer Field in Sacramento.

Thursday afternoon's contest will be the 23rd all-time meeting between the two schools, with Santa Clara holding a commanding 21-1-1 all-time record against the Hornets. The Broncos came away with thrilling 1-0 victory last season, scoring in the 77th minute to secure the victory. The last time the Hornets defeated the Broncos was during the 2000 season in Sacramento, winning by a 2-1 score in double-overtime. The lone tie in the series came in only the second meeting between the two institutions, as the match ended in a 2-2 tie at Santa Clara during the 1975 season.
Scouting the Hornets
The Hornets enter Thursday's match with a 5-7-4 overall record and a 2-2-1 record in the Mountain Pacific Soccer Federation. They are 3-2-1 in their last six matches with the wins coming over San Francisco, Denver and UNLV. David Fraser leads the Hornet scoring attack with 11 points on the season, coming on four goals and three assists. Brent Hamilton and Joel Rodriguez each have seven points for Sac State, while David Rios is fourth on the team with five points. Matt McDougall has take the majority of minutes between the pipes for the Hornets, posting a 0.88 goals-against average in just over 916 minutes of play.
Last Week: Broncos Pick Up First Conference Win
Santa Clara ended its West Coast Conference drought with a convincing 4-1 win over Saint Mary's Saturday night in Buck Shaw Stadium. Senior Jamil Walker registered his second hat trick of the season and only the sixth in SCU history during the win. Devin Skrade notched his first collegiate goal late in the game to give the Broncos the 4-1 win. Senior Scott McLain had a big impact on the outcome as he posted two assists in the win.

Santa Clara will conclude both its regular season and the WCC season next week at home as they host the University of San Francisco Tuesday night and Loyola Marymount Saturday evening. Both matches are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. starts, with Saturday night's contest having a special pregame ceremony for the outgoing seniors, Burke Ewers, Scott McLain and Jamil Walker.
Walker Breaks Into Single-Season Top-10 List at SCU
With his three goals Saturday night senior Jamil Walker has tallied 12 goals thus far this season, moving him into a tie for 5th place on the Santa Clara single-season scoring list. He is currently tied with Richard Smith who scored 12 in 1983 and is one behind both Miguel Avila and Clive Barret. The all-time single season record at Santa Clara is 19 and was set by Scott Doubglas during the 1977 season. Walkers 19 career goals places him in a tie for 8th place all-time on the Mission Campus, tying him with Peter Cochrane, Alberto Cruz and Derick Brownell.
Broncos Lose Pair of Players to U.S. U-20 Squad
Santa Clara sophomore's Ryan Cochrane and Steve Cronin will miss the final three matches of the regular season for the Broncos as they travel to South Carolina to play with the U.S. U-20 National Team in qualifying rounds of the CONCACAF Tournament. The tournament, which marks the first time U.S. Soccer has hosted an Under-20 qualifying tournament since 1980, will take place at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, S.C., with doubleheaders on Nov. 13, 15 and 17. The U.S. will be joined by Haiti, El Salvador and Canada in Group B, with the top two teams advancing to the FIFA World Youth Championship in the United Arab Emirates from March 25 - April 16, 2003.
