Keigo Kameya, Erik Hurtado Honored as WCC’s Top Performers

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara University men's soccer program had two players honored Monday morning, following the team's road sweep over West Coast Conference rivals the University of Portland and Gonzaga University.

Junior forward Keigo Kameya (Saratoga, Calif./Lynnbrook HS) was tabbed by the conference office as the WCC Player of the Week after scoring one of the most important goals of the season thus far for SCU and arguably the WCC. His game-winner against Portland in overtime came with the Broncos playing a man down on the road, moments after the Pilots had tied the game with 24 seconds left in regulation. Kameya's goal, placed inside the far post, set off an extended celebration for SCU, who took control of first place in the league standings with the 3-2 victory.

Having now won seven of eight overall and five of six to open league play, College Sports Madness recognized SCU senior Erik Hurtado (Beaverton, Ore./Westview HS) as it's West Coast Player of the Week. Hurtado has been terrific for the Broncos during the team's recent surge to the top of the league standings. The preseason All-America pick scored twice in Portland and currently ranks No. 4 among all NCAA players in points (26), points per game (2.0), goals (11) and No. 5 in goals per game (0.85).
