Anamoo’s Brace Completes Men’s Soccer Comeback Win Over Utah Valley

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Jesse Anamoo scored a pair of second half goals including the game winner in the 77th minute to complete Santa Clara men's soccer's 3-2 comeback win over Utah Valley on Friday night at Stevens Stadium.

The Broncos (3-2-1) stormed back to score three unanswered goals after falling behind 2-0 in the first 18 minutes of action to scratch out their third-straight victory.

Anamoo's game winning goal came seconds after after re-entering the game as he made his presence felt immediately, fighting off a defender on a ball that was chipped in by Joshua Dabora.  After gaining control of the ball, Anamoo cleanly struck the ball over the outstretched arms of Utah Valley's goalkeeper Jason Smith to put the Broncos ahead 3-2.

Earlier in the second half, with the Broncos trailing 2-1, Anamoo had the equalizer.  The goal came in the 54th minute on a feed from James Redington as he out-jumped teammate Oladayo Thomas who was also in position, to head the ball in.

Things were not looking good the Broncos in the opening 20 minutes of the match as Owen Knecht got the Wolverines (2-3-1) on the board in the fifth minute followed by Ura Miura's goal in the 18th to quickly go up 2-0.

However, Santa Clara got a key goal five minutes before intermission when Damani Osei headed in Adem Hamdaoua's corner kick to gain momentum entering the half.  Osei rushed in from the right side and got a good look in delivering the ball to the upper right corner cut the deficit to 2-1.

It was one of seven corner kicks for the Broncos compared to two for the Wolverines.
