Men's Soccer Head to England for Foreign Tour

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara men's soccer team heads out on a 12-day foreign tour to England starting Monday where they are scheduled to play four matches against teams of pro clubs while engrossing themselves in a soccer rich culture.

"Our tour to England this year is super exciting for our team.  Number one, it's really considered the birthplace of soccer but it's also a great culture to take in," said Broncos head coach Cam Rast. "The football is outstanding throughout the country and the passion for it.  We will be immersing ourselves in a place that will help us get off to a great start for our upcoming season and we are really looking forward to the experience."

The Broncos will leave on Monday and return on July 7 while enjoying visits to Manchester, Birmingham and London.  Leading up to the tour, the Broncos are allowed to train 10 days giving Rast and his staff an opportunity for early training as allowed by the NCAA when scheduling a foreign tour once every four years.  They last embarked on a foreign tour in 2018 to Denmark.

The Broncos will play its four matches over a seven-day stretch beginning on June 29.

Away from the pitch, there will be stadium tours of Old Trafford, The Etihad and Anfield, the homes of iconic Premier League teams Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool, as well as a boat tour on The River Thames.

Be sure to periodically check the Santa Clara Broncos athletics website for updates from the trip.  There is no video but fans can follow the team's Twitter (@scubroncosoccer), Facebook (SantaClaraUniversityMensSoccerTeam), and Instagram (@scumenssoccer) accounts for updates.
