Santa Clara Soccer Announces 2010 Recruiting Class

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara University's men's soccer head coach Cameron Rast announced that five prep seniors have signed National Letters of Intent to attend the university and play for the Broncos in 2010.

Santa Clara landed a deep class, loading up on five U.S. Soccer Development Academy players, including area stars Keigo Kameya (Cupertino, California) and Carlos Montes (San Jose, California); one of the top defenders from the state of Texas, Mark Daus (Plano, Texas); and two Southern California standouts: Phillip Muscarella (Camarillo, California) and Michael Gates (Pasadena, California).

"The 2010 class is a talented group of players from some of the best clubs in the country," said Rast. "Each player brings something a little different to the team in terms of their skill and ability yet they all have the potential to greatly impact our program. What I am most excited about is their desire to be at Santa Clara and achieve great things within the program. I look forward to August and the chance to begin working with them."

The Broncos have a storied soccer tradition, qualifying for 18 NCAA College Cup Tournaments. SCU advanced to the 2006 NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight and the Sweet 16 in 2007. Rast has led the Broncos to three West Coast Conference titles.

Mark Daus

Rast on Daus: "Mark has a great ability to impact a game in a couple ways. His strength is to organize the players in front of him which in turn allows him to read the game and make the necessary plays defensively. What is even more impressive is not that he can make plays himself, but his ability to influence the team's success. His record with his clubs and high schools speaks volumes."
