No. 54 Broncos Travel To Southern California For WCC Action

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The No. 54 Santa Clara men's tennis team will travel to Southern California this weekend to play the first West Coast Conference action this season against the No. 21 Pepperdine Waves on Sat., Feb. 5 and the Loyola Marymount Lions on Sun., Feb 6. SCU is currently 3-2 on the season.

SCU defeated the Lions comfortably, 5-2, last season on Apr. 10, 2010. The Broncos met the Waves at the WCC championship match in the last meeting but fell 4-1. The bright side was Kyle Dandan and Grant Fleming teamed up for a great victory at No. 3 spot with a 8-4 over Sebastian Fanselow and Alejandro Moreno. In addition, Tom Pham grabbed a win at the No. 6 position that kept SCU in the match, 6-1, 6-2.

Santa Clara had a strong record of 5-2 in WCC contests last season and wants to make towards winning the WCC title as a yearly goal.

Saturday's match vs. Pepperdine Waves is set to begin at 10 a.m. at Malibu, Calif. and first serve for Sunday's match vs. Loyola Marymount Lions is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. at Los Angeles, Calif.
