Bronco Trio Named Men’s Tennis All-WCC

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – A trio of Santa Clara men's tennis players received All-West Coast Conference honors, the league office announced on Wednesday ahead of the start of the WCC Championships.

Christian Lerby was named to the singles second team while Arthur Neuhaus and Guillaume Dalmasso earned doubles second team recognition.  Neuhaus also was named singles honorable mention.

The all-conference voting and major awards were voted on by the 10 conference head coaches.

Lerby fiished the regular season with a 14-2 singles record in dual matches primarily playing at the No. 3 position where he went 11-1.  He had an 1-1 record atop the lineup and 2-0 at No. 2.  The graduate student who transferred from Arizona State went 1-1 against ranked opponents with his victory coming against 123rd-ranked Wally Thayne of BYU.  Lerby was ranked as high as 117th during the season in the ITA Division I men's national singles rankings 

Neuhaus played atop the single lineup for most of the season finishing with a 6-9 record at No. 1 and 11-10 in all dual matches.  In WCC matches, he finished tied atop the team lead with five victories along with Lerby.

In doubles, Neuhaus and Dalmasso combined to go 8-5 in dual matches including 5-2 in league play, all coming at the No. 1 position.  They currently have a four-match win streak.

The Broncos finished the regular season with a 15-9 overall record including 6-3 in conference play to finish third in the WCC.  On Thursday, they face sixth-seeded Saint Mary's in the opening round of the WCC Tournament at the Aztec Tennis Complex on the campus of San Diego State.

Pepperdine's Daniel De Jonge and Portland's Sema Pankin were named WCC Co-Players of the Year while San Diego's Ollie Tarvet was named Freshman of the Year.  San Diego head coach Ryan Keckley took home the Coach of the Year honors.
