Men's Water Polo Falls to No. 15 Air Force

Sept. 28, 2003

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's water polo team fell to 15th-ranked U.S. Air Force Academy 14-2 this morning in continuing action at the Slugfest Invitational, hosted by UC Santa Cruz at its East Field House. The loss moves the Broncos' record to 7-5 on the season.

Grant Allison and Jon Greco scored for the Broncos. Peter Moore played the first half in goal and registered four saves. Floyd Tucker took over guarding the cage in the second half and registered two saves and one steal.

"Air Force's strength is their conditioning and I think it was to their advantage to play us on the third day of a long tournament," SCU head coach Keith Wilbur said. "We'll spend our time now focusing on our final game of the weekend, which is a big contest against a team we want to beat."

Santa Clara closes out the Invitational against Division III sixth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer this afternoon at 3:35 p.m.
