SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara Broncos men's water polo team will travel to Princeton University this upcoming weekend to participate in the Princeton Invitational. No. 14 Santa Clara (0-2) will open the weekend on Friday, September 9^th at 3 p.m. PST against Princeton on ESPNU.

"Playing a water polo game that is televised is rare," said Bronco head coach Keith Wilbur.  "Usually it is the Olympics and NCAA championships, so it is very exciting for the team to get the opportunity to be on ESPNU when we play at Princeton." 

The trip will mark the third season in a row the Broncos have traveled to Princeton. After their nationally televised showdown with the No. 17 Tigers Santa Clara will be play No. 19 St. Francis (N.Y.) and Brown on Saturday followed by MIT and Fordham on Sunday.

"We are going to see some very good teams at the Princeton tournament," said Wilbur.  "St. Francis won the CWPA last year, and Princeton won it two years ago.  Brown is a perennial power back east, and MIT and Fordham have strong programs that have done well the past few years.  It is difficult to travel across the country and play in a different environment, so I am looking to see how the team responds to that challenge.  I also think there is a good chance that we will be in some close games, so we should have the opportunity to work on executing plays in the fourth quarter and finishing out a close game."

The Broncos dropped a pair of tough games to No. 5 Pacific and No. 2 California last weekend at the Cal Bear invitational. James Case and Theo Nasser highlighted the scoring for the Broncos each finding the back of the net twice. In addition, Jimmy Moore cashed in his first career goal on a five meter against California. Michael Wishart was outstanding in the cage against Pacific, collecting a career-high 16 saves.
