Men's Water Polo Travels To No. 5 Stanford

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The No. 15 Bronco men's water polo team will keep it local Saturday, as they take on No. 4 Stanford in Palo Alto. This will be one of the toughest match-ups of the season for the Broncos, but the team has high hopes to continue on their five game winning streak this weekend.

"Stanford is ranked No. 4 in the country. They have great athletes on their team and they are extremely well-coached," said Bronco head coach Keith Wilbur. "We will have play at our highest level and minimize our mistakes in order to do well.  We look forward to the opportunity of playing one of the best teams in the country."

Stanford is coming off of its first loss of the season to No. 5 Pacific. The Cardinal are now 6-1 for the season. It has been their younger players who seem to be making a big impact for the Cardinal so far this season. Sophomore Bret Bonanni has helped lead the offense, while freshman goalkeeper Drew Holland anchors the defense.

The Cardinals are coached by former Olympian John Vargas, who is in his 11th season with the team.

After this weekend, the Broncos will head down to Southern California to participate in the SoCal tournament, hosted by UC Irvine, next weekend. The Broncos will start the weekend off against No. 5 Pacific. This will be the third time this season the Broncos and the Tigers have faced off.
