SAN JOSE, Calif. - Mark Kis scored times, one of four Spartans with multiple goals, and Yahav Fire made 12 blocks to help propel San Jose State to a 16-6 victory on Saturday.

The Spartans (2-3), who were an impressive 7-for-11 with the extra attacker, scored three goals in the opening 3 minutes of the second half to help pull away. Niels Hofmeijer's goal with 5:19 left in the quarter increased the lead to 9-3.

Hofmeijer, Marko Radanovich and Bende Pardi each had two goals for San Jose State in its home opener.

Caedmon Fisher had a pair of goals, the first two of his career, for the Broncos (4-2) were only able to convert on one of their 11 chances with the man advantage.

Ford Eldredge's goal with 3 minutes left in the opening quarter put the Broncos ahead 3-2 though they did not score again until the third. Mason Jaeger's goal with 3:43 left in the third trimmed the lead to 9-4, but the Spartans scored the next five.
