Eldredge's Big Day Leads Broncos To 14-9 Win Over Air Force

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Ford Eldredge's banner day of five goals and one assist helped power Santa Clara men's water polo to a big 14-9 victory over the Air Force Falcons on Friday at the Sullivan Aquatic Center. Ford scored 5 goals overall, meeting his career highlight of the season. 

Eldredge's five goals were a career-best. He scored once in the opening period and added two goals in both the third and fourth quarters. He also tallied a pair of steals and finished with a game-best six points. 

Cody Ferguson struck first for the Broncos within the first two minutes of action and Eldredge followed quickly with a goal of his own to make it 2-0 Santa Clara early on. Air Force then tacked on two goals to even the score at 2-2 at the end of the first quarter. The Broncos then put their foot on the accelerator in the second quarter, outscoring the Falcons 5-1 to take a big 7-3 lead into the half. Santa Clara continued to outscore Air Force 7-6 over the final half as they held on for the victory. 

With the win, the Broncos improved to 13-9 with a 3-4 mark in conference play ahead of tomorrow's regular season finale, which will be played against Fresno Pacific at noon at the Sullivan Aquatic Center. 

Dominik Kirk had a hat trick of his own with three goals and also added two assists and a steal. Cody Ferguson chipped in two goals of his own as six total players found the back of the net. Chase Zamborelli got the start at goalie and played all 32 minutes finishing with 13 saves. 

The Broncos will celebrate their seniors in a quick ceremony prior to tomorrow's contest.
