SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's water polo has a new conference to call home and now knows which opponents they will face in it. As a charter member of the inaugural season of the West Coast Conference sponsoring men's water polo, the Broncos have unveiled their full 2023 schedule, which features four home matches in addition to the annual Julian Fraser Memorial.
The Broncos begin the season on Saturday, Sept. 2, against Fresno Pacific/UC Merced before heading off to New Jersey for the Princeton Tournament (9/8-10). Following their cross-country venture, Santa Clara will gear up to host their lone nonconference game at Sullivan on Saturday, Sept. 16, vs. UC Davis. The Broncos will then conclude September with trips to Southern California for the MPSF Tournament at USC and UCLA and a quick trip up the road to Stanford to take on the Cardinal on Sept. 29.
Santa Clara's first-ever WCC match will be on Oct. 5 against Cal Baptist in Riverside, Calif. The Broncos will hang around Riverside to take part in the Lancer Invite, hosted by Cal Baptist on Oct. 6 and 7 before heading over to San Jose State for a WCC match between longtime rivals on Thursday Oct. 12. The team's annual alumni game is set for the following Saturday (Oct. 14), leading up to the three-day Julian Fraser Memorial for the weekend of Oct. 20-22.
The Broncos will host their first of three-straight home matches on Friday, Oct. 27, against Pacific with LMU and Pepperdine to follow on Nov. 3 and 5, respectively. The regular-season finale will then by played against Air Force at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
Pepperdine will host the inaugural WCC Championship Tournament Nov. 17-19.
