Beach Volleyball Sweeps Pacific Again in Home Opener

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — That's four in a row.

The Santa Clara University beach volleyball team turned in its fourth consecutive victory by sweep Wednesday, beating West Coast Conference foe Pacific, 5-0, for the second time this season at the Santa Clara Beach Volleyball Courts.

The Broncos (6-4) won three of four pairs played Wednesday by straight sweeps. Pacific (0-8) forfeited the fifth pairing by not providing a pair to compete in the spot.

Nicole Robison and Julia Sangiacomo breezed through their No. 1 pairs match, beating the Tigers' Hania Taduran and Jenny Todd, 21-14 and 21-13. Casey Campbell and Katie Kishton also skated by at No. 2, downing Josephine Kinlan and Sedona Sherman, 21-11 and 21-15.

Jordan Bennett and Claire Doud also won via sweep at No. 4 pairs with a 21-13, 21-14 beating of Miranda Baptista and Joli Ruby. Ella Duffner and Elena Radeff pulled out a three-set victory at the No. 3 spot. They beat Pacific's Camdyn Albrecht and Jillian Rodig, 21-9, in the first set, fell closely, 21-16, in the second, then beat them, 15-11, in the third to clinch the match.

Santa Clara next plays its own Red and White scrimmage at home on Saturday, then plays in the West Coast Challenge in Santa Cruz on March 25 and 26.
